Ex-Cetera Rep Greg McKinney Has $1 Million Investor Complaint

Former Tulsa, Oklahoma broker and investment adviser Greg McKinney (CRD#: 2100850) recently received a pending customer complaint alleging his conduct resulted in $1 million in damages. According to records maintained by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), McKinney was most recently registered with Cetera Advisors, but he has been barred from acting as a broker or otherwise associating with a broker-dealer firm.

Greg McKinney’s BrokerCheck report currently lists one settled investor complaint and four pending investor complaints against him. It also describes a FINRA decision, rendered in February 2020, barring him from acting as a broker in connection to allegations he failed to comply with an investigation “into his possible participation in undisclosed private securities transactions.”

A complaint filed in March 2020 alleged that while a representative of Cetera Advisors, Greg McKinney made misrepresentations regarding real estate investment trust products and “made securities recommendations to generate commissions.” The complaint reached a settlement of $29,593.

A pending investor complaint filed in November 2020 alleges that as a Cetera Advisors representative, Greg McKinney recommended unsuitable investments in direct participation programs and limited partnership interests. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

A pending complaint filed in March 2020 alleges that while at Cetera Advisors, he committed common law fraud, breached his fiduciary duty, and acted negligently. The pending complaint alleges damages between $500,000 and $1,000,000.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), Greg McKinney holds 28 years of securities industry experience and is currently barred from acting as a broker. His prior registrations include Cetera Advisors in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Securian Financial Services in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has passed five securities industry qualifying examinations: the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the Corporate Securities Limited Representative Examination, or Series 62; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; and the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7.
