Ian Geeves: $400K Complaint Against Ex-LPL Advisor

Carlsbad, California financial advisor Ian Geeves (CRD# 5328479) recently received an investor complaint alleging he misappropriated funds. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is a broker registered with Vanderbilt Securities and an investment advisor registered with Vanderbilt Advisory Services.

Mr. Geeves’ BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in September 2023, it alleges that as a representative of LPL Financial, he misappropriated a prospective customer’s funds and represented that she had an LPL account. The pending complaint alleges damages of $400,000.

Investors should be aware that the misappropriation of investor funds may violate FINRA Rule 2150. Brokers who violate these rules may be held liable for damages in the event of losses.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Ian Geeves holds 14 years of securities industry experience. Most recently based in Carlsbad, California, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Vanderbilt Securities and Vanderbilt Advisory Services, respectively, since 2022. His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66.
