Lazaros Coss: FINRA Bars Los Angeles Broker

Lazaros Coss (CRD# 6476885), previously a broker registered with Northwestern Mutual Investment Services, was recently the subject of a disciplinary action by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) after he allegedly refused to cooperate with an investigation into his conduct. Formerly a representative of the firm’s office in Los Angeles, California, he was issued a bar from associating with FINRA firms.

According to a Letter of Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent (No. 2019063530501) dated April 2020, Lazaros Coss was associated with Northwestern Mutual Investment Services as an Investment Company and Variable Contracts Product Representative from 2017 until August 2019, when the firm filed notice that he was permitted to resign while under an internal review of allegations of “signature discrepancies on certain non-variable life insurance policies and paying premiums on certain non-variable life insurance policies where the insureds were not related to the representative nor employed by him.” The findings go on to state that in connection with an investigation into these allegations, FINRA sent him a request on March 3, 2020 to produce documents and information pursuant to FINRA Rule 8210, which authorized FINRA to require the production of such from persons under its jurisdiction in connection to matters under its investigation. FINRA’s findings go on to state that he indicated to FINRA via a March 16, 2020 email from counsel that he had received its request but would not “at any time” be producing the requested documents or information. FINRA’s findings state that this refusal violated FINRA Rule 8210, a violation of which is also a violation of FINRA Rule 2010. As a result of the foregoing alleged conduct, he was barred from associating with any FINRA member firm in any capacity.

Lazaros Coss is currently not registered as a broker. His previous registrations include US Brokerage, Paulson Investment Company, Northwestern Mutual Investment Services, and Robert W. Baird & Company. He has passed three securities industry qualifying examinations: Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; and Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6. His BrokerCheck report lists zero state securities licenses. (Information current as of June 3, 2020.)
