Robert Perlman: Pending Options Complaint Against UBS Broker/Adviser

Robert Perlman (CRD# 1892131), a broker and investment adviser based in New York City, has received a pending customer complaint connected to an options strategy offered by his member firm, UBS Financial Services. Records maintained by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) indicate that the complaint alleges damages of $750,000.

The pending complaint against Robert Perlman was filed in May 2019. It concerns allegations regarding an options overlay strategy investment whose time frame is listed as “October 2017-present.” The complaint specifically alleges that the investment was unsuitable—that is, it was not aligned with the investor’s needs, experience, or risk tolerance—and that UBS Financial Services misrepresented the strategy. The complaint, which is still pending before FINRA, alleges damages of $750,000.

Perlman’s FINRA records also list two complaints that were closed or denied. One complaint, filed in 2013, alleged unauthorized trading and poor performance while he was employed at Credit Suisse Securities; it alleged damages of $190,000 and was closed with no action taken. A second complaint, filed in 2002, alleged unsuitable advice and misrepresentation while he was registered at Lehman Brothers; the complaint was denied.

Robert Perlman has been registered with UBS Financial Services in New York, New York since 2015. His previous registrations include Credit Suisse in New York City, where he was registered from 2008 until 2015 as a broker and investment adviser, and Lehman Brothers in New York City, where he was registered from 1988 until 2008 as a broker, and from March to September 2008 as an investment adviser. He has passed four securities industry qualifying examinations and his BrokerCheck report lists 21 state securities licenses, including: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Montana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wyoming. His self-regulatory organization (SRO) registrations include BOX Exchange LLC, Cboe Exchange Inc., FINRA, NYSE American LLC, Nasdaq ISE LLC, the Nasdaq Stock Market, and the New York Stock Exchange.
