Timothy Connor: McKinley Financial Advisor Denies Investor Complaint

A new investor complaint against Redwood City, California financial advisor Timothy Connor (CRD# 2222028) alleges that he recommended an unsuitable investment. Records maintained by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority show that he is currently registered as a broker and an investment advisor with LPL Financial, doing business as McKinley Financial Group.

Mr. Connor’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in March 2023, it alleges that as a representative of First Allied Securities, he made unsuitable investment recommendations involving variable annuities, alternative investments, and structured products between January 2018 and June 2021. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages exceeding $5,000.

In a statement included with the pending complaint’s disclosure, Mr. Connor defended himself against the claim. “I deny all allegations of wrongdoing and the claim is without merit,” he wrote, continuing: “All recommendations and investments strategies made for the customer were suitable and consistent with the customer’s investment objectives and risk tolerance. The customer fully understood all risks involved in investing in all products after speaking with the advisor and reviewing documentation.”

According to the the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Timothy Connor holds 18 years of securities industry experience. Based in Redwood City, California, he has been a broker and an investment advisor with LPL Financial since 2021, doing business as McKinley Financial Group. His past registrations include Cetera Investment Advisers (Redwood Shores, California; 2020-2021), First Allied Securities (Redwood Shores, California; 2011-2021), TransAmerica Financial Advisors (os Angeles, California; 2007-2009), TransAmerica Capital (Denver, Colorado; 2005-2006), Wells Fargo Securities (San Francisco, California; 1997-1998), Equico Securities (New York, New York; 1992-1995), and the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States (New York, New York; 1992-1995). His credentials include the passage of six securities industry qualifying exams: the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Operations Professional Examination, or Series 99TO; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65.
