Former San Antonio, Texas financial advisor Eric Dupre (CRD# 2174456) was recently sanctioned and barred in connection with alleged rule violations. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he was most recently registered as a broker with Ameriprise Financial Services and that he has received an investor complaint alleging 7-figure damages.
A Letter of Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent (No. 2023079280501) details FINRA’s disciplinary action against Mr. Roberts. Filed in July 2025, it alleges that he borrowed a sum of at least $2,236,000 from two customers without providing his member firm with prior notice or receiving its approval, violating FINRA rules as well as firm policies. The loans in question “were not documented or secured by any collateral.” One loan was from a married couple who were his customers, while he also took “a series of loans” from another customer who was 77 years old. He allegedly “needed the loans because he was experiencing financial difficulties,” and the customer in question “borrowed funds on margin from his Ameriprise account” to provide “a significant portion” of the $2,171,00 he loaned Mr. Dupre.
“Given his financial circumstances at the time he borrowed the money from the customer, Dupre did not have a reasonable 3 expectation of repaying the loans,” the AWC Letter states, “and to date, Dupre has not repaid any portion of the funds loaned to him by the customer.” Finding that his conduct violated FINRA Rules 3240 and 2010, the regulator barred him from associating with any member firm in any capacity.
Mr. Dupre’s BrokerCheck report discloses one recent investor complaint. Filed in 2024, it alleges that as a representative of Ameriprise Financial Services, he recommended that a party of customers invest in a “cryptocurrency opportunity,” did not invest their funds, and “instead misappropriated the funds.” The pending complaint alleges more than $3 million in damages.
A second disclosure on his BrokerCheck report concerns his termination from Ameriprise Financial Services. Filed in 2023, it states that the firm fired him “due to violation of company policy related to borrowing from clients.”
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Eric Dupre holds 26 years of securities industry experience. Most recently based in San Antonio, Texas, he was registered as a broker with Ameriprise Financial Services from 2020 until 2024. His prior registrations include Raymond James & Associates, Berthel Fisher & Company, UBS Painewebber, JC Bradford & Company, Aegon USA Securities, and Rauscher Pierce Refsnes. His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the National Commodity Futures Examination, or Series 3; and the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7. He is no longer licensed with any state or firm. (Information current as of July 17, 2025.)
