Irvine, California financial advisor Robert Nevarez (CRD# 4039930) allegedly made unsuitable investment recommendations, according to an investor complaint. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker with Cetera Wealth Services and an investment advisor with Cetera Investment Advisors, doing business as HN Financial Group.
In addition, Mr. Nevarez’s name is listed on a Form D filing for Inspired Healthcare Capital, a senior living development company that recently entered bankruptcy. According to an InvestmentNews report, the company sold private placement offerings and alternative investments “through a network of independent contractor broker-dealers,” reportedly receiving “more than $100 million in fees and commissions” for investments that later stopped issuing distributions to investors.
Mr. Nevarez’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in 2021, it alleges that as a representative of National Securities Corporation, he recommended an unsuitable real estate investment. In 2022 the complaint reached a settlement of $18,000.
The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority maintains numerous rules and standards that brokers must follow. One such rule is the suitability rule, which holds that brokers must “have a reasonable basis to believe” their investment recommendations are appropriate for their customers. As outlined in FINRA Rule 2111, and later Regulation Best Interest, brokers determine an investment’s suitability by evaluating “information obtained through reasonable diligence of the firm or associated person to ascertain the customer’s investment profile.” An investor’s profile includes such information as their age, income, net worth, and risk tolerance. The recommendation of unsuitable investments can lead to potentially significant losses for the customer.
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Robert Nevarez holds 24 years of securities industry experience. Based in Irvine, California, he has been registered as a broker with Cetera Wealth Services and an investment advisor with Cetera Investment Advisors since March 2026, doing business as HN Financial Group. His registration history includes Cambridge Investment Research, Dempsey Lord Smith, National Securities Corporation, LPL Financial, AIG Financial Advisors, SunAmerica Securities, Edward Jones, World Group Securities, and WMA Securities. His credentials include the passage of seven securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; the General Securities Principal Examination, or Series 24; and the National Commodity Futures Examination, or Series 3. He is licensed in Arizona, California, Florida, Idaho, Michigan, Nevada, and Oklahoma. (Information current as of March 21, 2026.)
