A recent investor complaint against Santa Barbara, California financial advisor Michael Morando (CRD# 6098724) alleges that he recommended unsuitable investments. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Centaurus Financial, doing business as Tremblay Financial.
Mr. Morando’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in April 2026, it alleges that as a representative of Centaurus Financial, he recommended “unsuitable, speculative and illiquid investments.” The pending complaint alleges damages of $125,000.
In a statement included with the complaint’s disclosure, Mr. Morando defends himself against the allegations, which he describes as meritless. “The investments about which the customers complained were suitable and were recommended based on the customer’s objectives, goals and financial circumstances and were offered only after their review of all material documentation related to the investment,” he writes. “The customers confirmed in writing that they not only received the requisite investment documentation/disclosures, but that they fully understood the characteristics and risks of the investments. At all times, I put the customer’s interest first and I will vigorously defend this matter to the fullest extent of the law.”
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Michael Morando holds 13 years of securities industry experience. Based in Santa Barbara, California, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Centaurus Financial since 2012, doing business as Tremblay Financial. His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66. He is licensed in Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington.
