Norman Hill: Ex-Ameriprise Advisor Barred by FINRA

Former Wellesley, Massachusetts financial advisor Norman Hill (CRD# 1535969) was recently sanctioned and barred in connection with alleged rule violations. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he was most recently registered as a broker with Ameriprise Financial Services, having previously been registered with Citizens Securities.

A Letter of Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent (No. 2026089178101) describes FINRA’s disciplinary action against Mr. Hill. Filed in May 2026, it alleges that he refused to provide documents and information requested by FINRA in connection with its investigation “into the circumstances giving rise to the amended Forum U5 filed by Ameriprise,” his former member firm. As the Letter notes, the firm had filed a disclosure that an internal review had concluded he “violated company policy.” Mr. Hill allegedly indicated to FINRA via email and phone that he received its request but would not produce the requested documents or information. Finding that his refusal violated FINRA Rule 8210 and 2010, the agency barred him from associating with any member firm in all capacities.

Under FINRA Rule 8210, FINRA is empowered to require persons under its jurisdiction to provide information and documents connected to matters under its investigation. The rule also stipulates that such persons may not refuse to provide documents and information requested by FINRA. Violations of Rule 8210 are considered violations of Rule 2010, which requires persons associated with FINRA to observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade in the course of their business. Brokers who violate these rules may be subject to disciplinary action.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Norman Hill holds 39 years of securities industry experience. Most recently based in Wellesley, Massachusetts, he was last registered with Ameriprise Financial Services from 2024 until 2025. His registration history includes Citizens Securities, Banc of America Investment Services, Quick & Reilly, FIS Securities, Painewebber, Smith Barney, and Merrill Lynch. His credentials include the passage of six securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; and the General Securities Principal Examination, or Series 24. He is not currently licensed with any state or firm. (Information current as of May 20, 2026.)
