Kirkwood, Missouri financial advisor John Moriarty (CRD# 2720704) recently received an investor complaint alleging that his advice resulted in six-figure damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker with Madison Avenue Securities and an investment advisor with Transce3nd, doing business as E3 Wealth.
Mr. Moriarty’s BrokerCheck report discloses two investor complaints. The most recent, filed in June 2026, alleges that as a representative of Madison Avenue Securities, he recommended “unsuitable and unlawful investments that were inconsistent with the client’s best interests,” breached his fiduciary duty, acted negligently, and misrepresented material facts in connection with a sovereign tribal tax credit. The pending complaint alleges damages of $700,000.
A previous investor complaint, filed in 2018, alleged that as a representative of National Planning Corporation, he failed in his supervisory responsibilities. The complaint reached a settlement of $9,999.
One of the most vital securities industry standards is the one established by the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, which stipulates that advisors must uphold a fiduciary duty to their clients. In essence, this means that they may not place their own interests ahead of the investor’s. Among other things, the fiduciary standard requires advisers to fully and fairly disclose potential conflicts of interest that might render their recommendations or advice not disinterested. The SEC’s Regulation Best Interest establishes a similar requirement, specifically obliging representatives to “make full and fair disclosure to the retail customer of all material facts relating to conflicts of interest that are associated with the recommendation” at the time they make it. Representatives who violate these standards may be subject to disciplinary action or found liable for damages.
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, John Moriarty holds 30 years of securities industry experience. Based in Kirkwood, Missouri, he has been registered as a broker with Madison Avenue Securities and an investment advisor with Transce3nd since 2022, doing business as E3 Wealth. His past registrations include AE Wealth Management, Kalos Capital, National Planning Corporation, American General Securities, Heartland Financial Advisors Group, and Franklin Financial Services. His credentials include the passage of eight securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Principal Examination, or Series 26; the General Securities Principal Examination, or Series 24; the Direct Participation Programs Representative Examination, or Series 22; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; and the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7. He holds 47 state licenses. (Information current as of July 3, 2026.)
