San Diego, California financial advisor Eddie MacPhee (CRD# 5476050) recently resigned from his former member firm in connection with alleged rule violations. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and Securities and Exchange Commission records show that the former Secure Investment Management representative is currently registered as an investment advisor with Gallagher Fiduciary Advisors.
Mr. MacPhee’s BrokerCheck report discloses his resignation from Secure Investment Management. Filed in July 2026, the disclosure states that he voluntarily resigned from the firm in connection with allegations that he was “suspected of selling away, unapproved outside business activities, communications outside of approved channels and other compliance violations related to marketing advisory and insurance business.”
For reference, FINRA Rule 3280 forbids brokers like Mr. MacPhee from participating in private securities transactions, with the exception of transactions made under certain specified conditions. The rule describes such trades as “any securities transaction outside the regular course or scope of an associated person’s employment with a member.” Also referred to as selling away, private securities transactions are permissible in some circumstances: for instance, as transactions with immediate family members for which no FINRA associated person receives selling compensation, provided the representative provides written notice to their member firm. When brokers engage in private securities transactions under such exceptions, they are generally also required to follow their member firm’s policies and procedures governing such. Representatives who engage in unapproved private securities transactions may be subject to disciplinary action and/or held liable for damages.
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Eddie MacPhee holds 15 years of securities industry experience. Based in San Diego, California, he has been registered as an investment advisor with Gallagher Fiduciary Advisors since July 2026. His past registrations include Secure Investment Management, Canter Wealth, and LPL Financial. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Operations Professional Exam, or Series 99TO; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66.
