Ryan Bell: Excessive Trading Complaint Against Stifel Advisor

Dallas, Texas financial advisor Ryan Bell (CRD# 3100068) allegedly made excessive trades, according to a recent investor complaint. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Stifel Nicolaus, having previously been registered with Merrill Lynch.

Mr. Bell’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in August 2026, it alleges that as a representative of Merrill Lynch, he committed “a number of securities and regulatory violations,” including excessive trading. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

Investors should be aware that in 2020 FINRA released a resource defining excessive trading as “the situation where a broker makes a large number of trades in a customer’s account not to benefit the customer but to generate commissions for the broker.” To detect signs of such conduct, the regulator advises that investors review account documents for potential discrepancies between the information recorded and the information provided to the broker. It also recommends that they look over trade confirmations and account statements, and reach out to their broker about any suspicious transactions, high-volume activity, or excessive fees or commissions.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Ryan Bell holds 27 years of securities industry experience. Based in Dallas, Texas, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Stifel Nicolaus since April 2025. His past registrations include Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs. His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the National Commodity Futures Examination, or Series 3; the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63. He holds 25 state licenses. (Information current as of August 30, 2026.)
