Amelia Guidi: $4mm Complaint Against Morgan Stanley Advisor

Boulder, Colorado financial advisor Amelia Guidi (CRD# 5485709) recently received an investor complaint alleging that she recommended an unsuitable strategy. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that she is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Morgan Stanley.

Ms. Guidi’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in August 2026, it alleges that as a representative of Morgan Stanley, she recommended an unsuitable investment strategy. The pending complaint alleges damages of $4 million.

FINRA rules mandate that advisors like Ms. Guidi must recommend only investments and investment strategies that meet a standard called suitability for their clients. The suitability standard, as outlined by FINRA Rule 2111 and now Regulation Best Interest, describes the need for brokers to “have a reasonable basis to believe that a recommended transaction or investment strategy” is appropriate for a customer’s investment profile, which includes their age, financial situation, liquidity needs, risk tolerance, and other concerns. They must have a reasonable basis to believe the recommendation is suitable for at least some investors and that it is reasonable for the individual customer they’re dealing with. In cases involving a series of transactions where the broker has actual or de facto control over the customer’s account, they must also have a reasonable basis to believe that the series of transactions, “even if suitable when viewed in isolation, is not excessive and unsuitable for the customer.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Amelia Guidi holds 13 years of securities industry experience. Based in Boulder, Colorado, she has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Morgan Stanley since 2019. Her past registrations include UBS Financial Services, Cetera Advisor Networks, and LPL Financial. Her credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66. She holds 26 state licenses. (Information current as of September 7, 2026.)
