Thousand Oaks, California financial advisor Craig Sturges (CRD# 1315735) allegedly recommended an unsuitable investment, according to a recent investor complaint. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker with Lifemark Securities.
Mr. Sturges’s BrokerCheck report discloses one recent investor complaint. Filed in September 2026, it alleges that as a representative of Centaurus Financial, he misrepresented and recommended an unsuitable, high-risk investment in an interval fund. The pending complaint alleges damages of $99,000.
Securities industry rules and standards forbid brokers like Mr. Sturges from providing misleading information regarding investments they recommend to their customers. Perhaps the most germane regulation is FINRA Rule 2020, which states that no broker may “effect any transaction in, or induce the purchase or sale of, any security by means of any manipulative, deceptive or other fraudulent device or contrivance.” A material fact, for reference, is a piece of information that would represent a significant consideration to any investor weighing an investment or strategy, such as its risks or whether their principal investment would be protected. Brokers who misrepresent investments may be liable in the event of losses.
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Craig Sturges holds 28 years of securities industry experience. Based in Thousand Oaks, California, he has been registered as a broker with Lifemark Securities since 2026. His past registrations include Centaurus Financial and ING Financial Partners. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Direct Participation Programs Representative Examination, or Series 22; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63. He holds 7 state licenses. (Information current as of October 17, 2026.)
