Former Germantown, Tennessee financial advisor Howard Crockett (CRD# 3022729) was recently sanctioned and suspended in connection with alleged rule violations. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he was most recently registered as a broker with NYLife Securities.
A Letter of Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent (No. 2026900000201) describes FINRA’s disciplinary action against Mr. Crockett. Filed in October 2026, it alleges that he participated in an outside business activity without providing written notice to his member firm, in accordance with firm policies and FINRA rules. The activities in question, according to FINRA, constituted the provision of business consulting services to a company owned and operated by a customer of his member firm. His services for the company allegedly included “brokering a loan and a health insurance company and advising on the company’s finances,” for which he received roughly $200,000 in commissions and other compensation. FINRA alleges that while he participated in this activity from September 2024 through September 2025, he did not disclose the activity to NYLife Securities until September 2025, and he falsely stated on a firm questionnaire in November 2024 that he was in compliance with the firm’s disclosure requirement. As a result of these findings, FINRA suspended him for two months and ordered him to pay a fine of $5,000.
Mr. Crockett’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in September 2026, it alleges that a customer of his at NYLife Securities “he “remitted nine checks… for payments unrelated to any known product or service.” The pending complaint alleges damages of $132,000.
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Howard Crockett holds 23 years of securities industry experience. Most recently based in Germantown, Tennessee, he was last registered as a broker with NYLife Securities from 2023 until 2026. His past registrations include NYLife Distributors, Global Atlantic Distributors, Nationwide Investment Services Corporation, Jackson National Life Distributors, MBSC Securities Corporation, OppenheimerFunds Distributors, Morgan Stanley DW, and Chase Investment Services Corporation. His credentials include the passage of eight securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Direct Participation Programs Representative Examination, or Series 22TO; the Operations Professional Exam, or Series 99TO; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6TO; the Municipal Securities Representative Examination, or Series 52TO; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Futures Managed Funds Examination, or Series 31; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66.
