Alex Staverosky: Ridgegate Advisor Faces Suitability Complaint

A recent investor complaint against Englewood, Colorado financial advisor Alex Staverosky (CRD# 7171282) alleges that he violated industry rules. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker with Emerson Equity and an investment advisor with Ridgegate Advisors.

Mr. Staverosky’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in September 2025, it alleges that as a representative of Emerson Equity, he recommended an unsuitable real estate investment. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

FINRA rules mandate that advisors like Mr. Staverosky must recommend only investments and investment strategies that meet a standard called suitability for their clients. The suitability standard, which is outlined by FINRA Rule 2111 and later the SEC’s Regulation Best Interest, describes the need for brokers to “have a reasonable basis to believe that a recommended transaction or investment strategy” is appropriate for a customer’s investment profile, which includes their age, financial situation, liquidity needs, risk tolerance, and other concerns. They must have a reasonable basis to believe the recommendation is suitable for at least some investors and that it is reasonable for the individual customer they’re dealing with. In cases involving a series of transactions where the broker has actual or de facto control over the customer’s account, they must also have a reasonable basis to believe that the series of transactions, “even if suitable when viewed in isolation, is not excessive and unsuitable for the customer.” Brokers who violate these rules may be held liable for damages.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Alex Staverosky holds six years of securities industry experience. Based in Englewood, Colorado, he has been registered as a broker with Emerson Equity since 2021 and an investment advisor with Ridgegate Advisors since 2025. His past registrations include AE Wealth Management, Emerson Equity, and JP Morgan Securities. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7TO; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6TO; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66. He is licensed in California, Colorado, and Texas. (Information current as of February 22, 2026.)
