Bruce Stark: Aegis Denies $71K Margin Complaint Against Advisor

A recent, denied investor complaint against Melville, New York financial advisor Bruce Stark (CRD# 2912344) alleged that he recommended the unsuitable use of margin. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker advisor with Aegis Capital.

Mr. Stark’s BrokerCheck report discloses multiple investor complaints. The most recent, filed in February 2024, alleged that as a representative of Aegis Capital, he provided poor advice and recommended unsuitable margin use. The complaint alleged damages of $71,552.32 and was denied by the firm.

In a statement included with the complaint’s disclosure, Mr. Stark wrote that the allegations were “false” and meritless, adding that the customer’s account “was always handled in a professional manor.”

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2015, alleged that as a representative of Obsidian Financial Group, he churned investments in the customer’s account, made excessive trades, recommended unsuitable equity products, and effected unauthorized trades. In 2017 the complaint reached a settlement of $25,000.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Bruce Stark holds 26 years of securities industry experience. Based in Melville, New York, he has been registered as a broker with Aegis Capital since 2012. His past registrations include Obsidian Financial Group (Woodbury, New York; 2008-2012), EKN Financial Services (Woodbury, New York; 2001-2008), Ehrenkrantz King Nussbaum (New York, New York; 2001), Weatherly Securities Corporation (New York, New York; 1999-2001), Tasin & Company (Hauppage, New York; 1997-1999), and IAR Securities Corporation (New York, New York; 1997). His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE: and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63.
