Carlton Fletcher: FINRA Bars Ex-Dinosaur Financial Advisor

Former New York City financial advisor Carlton Fletcher (CRD# 2455798) was recently barred by FINRA in connection with alleged rule violations. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he was previously registered as a broker with Dinosaur Financial Group.

A Letter of Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent (No. 2024082805201) describes FINRA’s disciplinary action against Mr. Fletcher. Released in January 2025, it alleged that he refused to cooperate with an investigation into allegations that he “converted funds of an individual.” As the letter notes, FINRA Rule 3270 empowers FINRA to require persons under its jurisdiction to provide information and documents related to matters under its investigation. Under this rule, the regulator sent Mr. Fletcher such a request on October 15, 2024, and again on November 26, 2024. On November 27, 2024, he informed FINRA that he had received its request and would not comply, according to the Letter. Finding that he violated FINRA Rules 8210 and 2010, FINRA barred him from associating with any member firm in any capacity. The AWC Letter also notes that he voluntarily resigned from Dinosaur Financial in 2024 “while under internal review by the firm.”

Mr. Fletcher’s BrokerCheck report discloses a previous disciplinary action against him. In 2001, for instance, FINRA suspended him in connection with allegations that he exercised discretion in customer accounts without authorization. He was suspended for 10 days and fined him $5,000.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Carlton Fletcher holds 28 years of securities industry experience. Most recently based in New York City, he was registered with Dinosaur Financial Group from 2010 until 2024. His past registrations include McGinn Smith & Company, JP Turner & Company, The Regency Group, RD White & Company, and AS Goldmen & Company. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Operations Professional Exam, or Series 99TO; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63. He is not licensed with any state or firm. (Information current as of January 25, 2025.)
