Arcadia, California financial advisor Cathy Wu (CRD# 4924232) allegedly misrepresented real estate investment trusts, according to a recent, denied investor complaint. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that she is registered as a broker with Cetera Investment Services and an advisor with Cetera Investment Advisers.
Ms. Wu’s BrokerCheck report discloses multiple investor complaints. The most recent, filed in July 2024, alleged that as a representative of Cetera Investment Services, she misrepresented material facts regarding an investment in REITs. The complaint alleged unspecified damages and was denied by the firm.
A second investor complaint, filed in 2021, alleged that as a Cetera representative, she recommended unsuitable real estate products. In 2023 the complaint reached a settlement of $105,000.
A third investor complaint, filed in 2021, similarly alleged that she recommended unsuitable investments as a Cetera representative. In 2021 the complaint reached a settlement of $45,000.
A fourth investor complaint, filed in 2016, alleged that she told the customer “the price of her investments would not change.” The complaint alleged damages of more than $2,000 and was denied by the firm.
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Cathy Wu holds 17 years of securities industry experience. Based in Arcadia, California, she has been registered as a broker with Cetera Investment Services since 2013 and an advisor with Cetera Investment Advisers since 2014. Her past registrations include Cetera Investment Services, UBS Financial Services, UBS International, and Genesis Securities. Her credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66.
