Chris Weismiller: Did Directional Wealth Advisor Sell GWG L Bonds?

At least two current or former customers of IFP Securities financial advisor Chris Weismiller (CRD# 5360051) are listed in public records as creditors for investments in GWG L bonds and/or preferred stock. Filed with a bankruptcy court in Texas, these records disclose investments of $300,000 in total. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that the Tampa financial advisor does business as Directional Wealth Management.

GWG Holdings reportedly declared bankruptcy in April 2022 after experiencing various financial difficulties and receiving scrutiny from the Securities and Exchange Commission, which later announced charges against broker-dealer firm Western International Securities in connection with the firm’s sales of GWG L bonds. As their prospectus states, these products involved significant risks, and were likely not suitable for inexperienced and/or conservative investors. More information is available here.
