Christina Silvius: Was Financial Solutions Advisor Negligent?

Investor complaints against Kansas City, Missouri financial advisor Christina Silvius (CRD# 4559574) allege that she acted negligently and recommended unsuitable investments. Records maintained by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority indicate that Ms. Silvius is a broker and an investment advisor with Moloney Securities, doing business as Advanced Financial Solutions.

Ms. Silvius’s BrokerCheck report discloses three investor complaints. The most recent, filed in October 2022, alleged that as a representative of Moloney Securities, she engaged in negligence and recommended unsuitable corporate bond investments between 2018 and 2020. The complaint alleged damages of $320,000 and was denied by the firm.

A second investor complaint, filed in July 2022, similarly alleges that she acted negligently and made unsuitable bond recommendations while at Moloney Securities in 2017. The pending complaint alleges damages of $28,000.

A third complaint, also filed in July 2022, alleges that she recommended unsuitable bonds while at Moloney Securities in 2020. The pending complaint alleges damages of $150,000.

In identical statements included with the above three disclosures, Ms. Silvius defended herself against the complaints, writing: “I refute the allegations of the claims.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Christina Silvius holds 20 years of securities industry experience. Based in Kansas City, Missouri, she has been a broker and an investment advisor with Moloney Securities since 2004 and 2016, respectively, doing business as Advanced Financial Solutions. She was previously registered with The O.N. Equity Sales Company in Cincinnati, Ohio from 2002 until 2004. Her credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; and the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6. She is licensed in Arkansas, Florida, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, and Washington. (Information current as of December 20, 2022.)
