A recent investor complaint against Melville, New York financial advisor Daniel Zlotnick (CRD# 1177472) alleges that his investment advice resulted in losses. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and Securities and Exchange Commission records show that the former Osaic Wealth broker is currently registered as an investment advisor with OneDigital.
Mr. Zlotnick’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in March 2026, it alleges that as a representative of Kestra Investment Services, he made unsuitable recommendations in connection with alternative investments. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages of at least $5,000.
Under FINRA Rule 2111, brokers may recommend only investments or strategies that are suitable for their clients. To ascertain whether an investment or strategy is suitable for the client, they must conduct reasonable diligence into the client’s investment profile, which includes their age, risk tolerance, investment objectives and experience, and other factors. They must conduct reasonable diligence to determine whether the investment is suitable for some investors, whether it is suitable for the specific investor, and, in cases where the advisor exercises discretion over trading in a customer’s account, they must conduct reasonable diligence to determine that a series of transactions is not unsuitable or excessive. The SEC’s Regulation Best Interest, meanwhile, similarly requires that they “act in the best interest of the retail customer at the time the recommendation is made, without placing the financial or other interest of the broker, dealer, or natural person who is an associated person of a broker or dealer making the recommendation ahead of the interest of the retail customer,” the regulation states. Representatives who recommend unsuitable investments may be found liable for damages.
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Daniel Zlotnick holds 39 years of securities industry experience. Based in Melville, New York, he has been registered as an investment advisor with OneDigital since 2021. His past registrations include Osaic Wealth, Triad Advisors, Private Advisor Group, LPL Financial, Kestra Investment Services, NFP Securities, Veravest Investments, Capital Strategies, Empire State Securities, and Island Planning Corporation. His credentials include the passage of seven securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; the Non-Member General Securities Examination, or Series 2; and the Direct Participation Programs Representative Examination, or Series 22.
