Ed Hill: $175K Complaint Against Hill Wealth Advisor

West End, North Carolina financial advisor Ed Hill (CRD# 6008804) recently received an investor complaint alleging that his advice resulted in damages of more than $150,000. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with LPL Financial, doing business as Hill Wealth Management.

Mr. Hill’s BrokerCheck report discloses four investors complaints. The most recent, filed in January 2025, alleges that as a representative of LPL Financial, he recommended unsuitable structured products. The pending complaint alleges damages of $175,000.

A second investor complaint, filed in October 2023, similarly alleges that as an LPL Financial representative, he failed to follow instructions and recommended a structured note investment that performed poorly. The pending complaint alleges damages of $20,800.

A third investor complaint, filed in 2023, also alleged that he recommended an unsuitable structured note investment. In 2024 the complaint reached a settlement of $220,000.

In a statement included with the complaint’s disclosure, Mr. Hill defended himself against the allegations. “LPL settled the matter solely for business purposes, without any contribution from me,” he wrote. “There were no findings of wrongdoing or liability against either LPL or myself. I continue to assert that all recommendations made to the claimants were suitable and aligned with the claimants’ investment objectives.”

A fourth investor complaint, filed in 2023, alleged that he reinvested a structured note without authorization. The complaint reached a settlement of $18,747.

Hill Wealth Management’s website includes a profile of Mr. Hill that describes his firm’s services to its clients. “[W]e hope you see the value of working with skilled professionals to pursue your financial goals,” it explains. “We’re here to help educate you about the basic concepts of financial planning, to help you learn more about who we are, and to give you fast, easy access to market performance and data.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Ed Hill holds 13 years of securities industry experience. Based in West End, North Carolina, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with LPL Financial since 2018, doing business as Hill Wealth Management. He was previously registered with Edward Jones in West End, North Carolina from 2012 until 2018. He is licensed in Alaska, California, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wyoming. (Information current as of February 8, 2025.)
