Elizabeth Reeves: Coker & Palmer Advisor’s Clients GWG Creditors

Records filed with a US bankruptcy court indicate that at least eight current or former customers of Coker & Palmer advisor Elizabeth Reeves (CRD# 2829988) are listed as creditors for investments in GWG Holdings L bonds and/or preferred stock. The records describe investments of $900,000 cumulatively. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that Ms. Reeves is currently based in Jackson, Mississippi.

As the Wall Street Journal reported last year, GWG Holdings is an alternative asset manager based in Dallas, Texas. The company issued a product known as L bonds that pooled investor funds to purchase life insurance policies on secondary markets. GWG raised roughly $1.6 billion, according to reports, with many of the funds raised from retail investors. When it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2022, The DI Wire reported that the company disclosed in filings that the SEC was examining it, with a focus on “how bonds were sold by brokers.” More information on GWG L bonds, and whether they may have been unsuitable investments, is available here.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Elizabeth Reeves holds 21 years of securities industry experience. Based in Jackson, Mississippi, she has been a broker and an investment advisor with Coker & Palmer since 2004 and 2021, respectively. She was previously registered with Johnson Rice & Company in New Orleans, Louisiana from 2000 until 2003. Her credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66. She is licensed in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Texas. (Information current as of May 31, 2023.)
