Eric Kleiner: FINRA Bars Ex-Morgan Stanley Advisor

Former New York City financial advisor Eric Kleiner (CRD# 4135180) was recently sanctioned and barred in connection with alleged rule violations. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he was most recently registered as a broker with Morgan Stanley and that he has received multiple investor complaints.

A Letter of Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent (No. 2024084330501) describes FINRA’s disciplinary action against Mr. Kleiner. Signed in October 2025, it alleges that he refused to provide documents and information requested by FINRA as part of its review of the circumstances surrounding his termination by Morgan Stanley. As a result of his refusal to provide the requested documents, FINRA found that he violated FINRA Rules 8210 and 2010. As a result, it barred him from associating with any member firm in all capacities.

A disclosure on Mr. Kleiner’s BrokerCheck report concerns his termination from Morgan Stanley. Filed in March 2025, it states that the firm fired him in connection with alleged recommendations of non-approved and restricted investments, as well as “failure to fully disclose outside investment, and use of personal device to engage in unauthorized disclosure of confidential, internal use only Firm information.”

Mr. Kleiner’s BrokerCheck report discloses several investor complaints. The most recent, filed in June 2025, alleges that as a representative of Morgan Stanley, he recommended an outside investment not authorized by the firm. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

A second investor complaint, filed in May 2025, similarly alleges that as a Morgan Stanley representative, he recommended an unapproved outside investment. The pending complaint alleges damages of $400,000.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Eric Kleiner holds 25 years of securities industry experience. Most recently based in New York City, he was last registered as a broker with Morgan Stanley from 2016 until 2025. His past registrations include Wells Fargo Advisors and Prudential Securities. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7. He is no longer licensed as a broker. (Information current as of November 4, 2025.)
