Howard Kavinsky: Ex-B. Riley Advisor Lands $760K Complaint

Charlotte, North Carolina financial advisor Howard Kavinsky (CRD# 5881623) recently received an investor complaint alleging that he provided misleading information. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that the former B. Riley Wealth Management representative is currently registered as a broker with Supreme Alliance.

Mr. Kavinsky’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in June 2024, it alleges that as a representative of B. Riley Wealth Management, he refused to provide the clients with copies of their statements and provided false and misleading information about their account balances. The claimants allege further that “funds have gone missing including qualified funds being removed from qualified accounts.” The pending complaint alleges damages of $760,000.

A second disclosure on his BrokerCheck report concerns his firing from B. Riley Wealth Management. Filed in May 2024, it states that the firm terminated his registration in connection with allegations that he misrepresented customer account values, created “unfounded customer statements purportedly from a clearing firm,” failed to forward potential customer grievances to the firm, and and failed to follow firm procedures relating to “the creation and use of consolidated client reports.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Howard Kavinsky holds 13 years of securities industry experience. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, he has been registered as a broker with Supreme Alliance since September 2024. His past registrations include B. Riley Wealth Management, National Securities, David A. Noyes & Company, Sanctuary Advisors, Morgan Stanley, and Hornor Townsend & Kent. His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Futures Managed Funds Examination, or Series 31; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65. (Information current as of September 29, 2024.)
