Jane Prugsanapan: CFI Advisor’s Client Listed as GWG Creditor

At least one current or former customer of Centaurus Financial advisor Jane Prugsanapan (CRD# 5270442) is listed as a creditor for an investment in GWG L bonds, according to public records. These records, filed with a US bankruptcy court, disclose an investment of $80,000. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that Ms. Prugsanapan, who does business as CFI Advisor Group, is based in Campbell, California.

As news reports explain, GWG Holdings raised funds from investors, including many retail investors, to buy life insurance policies on the secondary market, seeking to create profits when those policies paid out. In 2022 the company filed for bankruptcy for itself and two of its subsidiaries, GWG Life and GWG USA, following disclosures that it was experiencing financial difficulties and was under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission. The SEC later announced charges against Western International Securities, alleging that the firm and certain of its representatives violated SEC’s Regulation Best Interest in connection with their recommendation and sale of GWG L bonds. If your financial advisor misrepresented the risk of investments in these products, or over-concentrated them in your portfolio, they may be liable to you.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Jane Prugsanapan holds 15 years of securities industry experience. Based in Campbell, California, she has been a broker and an investment advisor with Centaurus Financial since 2009, doing business as CFI Advisor Group. She was previously registered with Direct Capital Securities in Covina, California from 2007 to 2009. Her credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66. She is licensed in California and Nevada. (Information current as of June 23, 2023.)
