Joshua Helvie: Why Was Vanderbilt Advisor Fired by LPL?

Zionsville, Indiana financial advisor Joshua Helvie (CRD# 2894058) was recently fired by his former member firm in connection with alleged rule violations. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that the former LPL Financial representative is currently registered as a broker with Vanderbilt Securities and an investment advisor with Vanderbilt Advisory Services.

Mr. Helvie’s BrokerCheck report discloses his termination from LPL Financial. Filed in February 2026, the disclosure states that the firm fired him in connection with allegations that he “Electronically signed account documents on behalf of customers; and used firm unapproved e-mail address to transmit business-related communications.”

Securities industry rules prohibit the use of unapproved communication channels. FINRA Rule 2010, for instance, states that FINRA-associated brokers must “observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade.” Various forms of unethical conduct, including the use of unapproved communication channels, constitute violations of FINRA Rule 2010, provided the activities occur “in the conduct of [the member’s] business.” FINRA Rule 4511, meanwhile, requires firms to make and preserve books and records pursuant to FINRA rules, including communications.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Joshua Helvie holds 28 years of securities industry experience. Based in Zionsville, Indiana, he has been registered as a broker with Vanderbilt Securities and an investment advisor with Vanderbilt Advisory Services since February 2026. His past registrations include LPL Financial (2008-2026) and Signator Investors (1997-2008). His credentials include the passage of six securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; and the General Securities Principal Examination, or Series 24. He is licensed in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, and New Mexico. (Information current as of March 14, 2026.)
