CBCLife’s Joyce Liang Receives GWG L Bond Complaint
Daly City, California financial advisor Joyce Liang (CRD# 6860076) is involved in an investor complaint involving an investment in GWG L bonds. Records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority show that she is a broker with NI Advisors and a representative of CBCLife Financial Services.
Ms. Liang’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in September 2022, it alleges that as a representative of NI Advisors, she committed fraud, acted negligently, and recommended an unsuitable investment in a GWG L bond. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.
The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year on GWG Holdings, a Dallas asset manager known for L bonds, investment products that “pooled money from bond investors to purchase life-insurance policies on the secondary market.” The firm reportedly raised approximately $1.6 billion from a customer base consisting largely of retail investors, then later later filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
