Dublin, Ohio financial advisor Laith Khalaf (CRD# 4175532) recently received an investor complaint alleging that he recommended an unsuitable investment strategy. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Wells Fargo Clearing Services.
Mr. Khalaf’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in June 2026, it alleges that as representative of Wells Fargo Clearing Services, he engaged in excessive trading and recommended an unsuitable strategy. The pending complaint alleges damages of $140,903.
For reference, a FINRA resource released in 2020 describes excessive trading, also known as quantitative suitability, as “the situation where a broker makes a large number of trades in a customer’s account not to benefit the customer but to generate commissions for the broker.” It is similar to but distinct from churning, a more severe form of excessive trading in which a broker conducts the allegedly excessive trades “with either an intent to defraud or with reckless disregard for the customer’s interests.” More information on potential red flags of excessive trading can be found via FINRA.
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Laith Khalaf holds 26 years of securities industry experience. Based in Dublin, Ohio, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Wells Fargo Clearing Services, LLC since 2018. His registration history includes UBS Financial Services and Morgan Stanley. His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Futures Managed Funds Examination, or Series 31; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65. He holds 33 state licenses. (Information current as of July 21, 2026.)
