Lisa Mantei: Cola Wealth Advisor Receives $200K Complaint

Lexington, South Carolina financial advisor Lisa Mantei (CRD# 2230735) recently received an investor complaint alleging her advice resulted in six-figure damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that she is a broker and an investment advisor with Centaurus Financial, doing business as Cola Wealth Advisors.

Ms. Mantei’s BrokerCheck report discloses multiple investor complaints. The most recent, filed in in June 2023, alleges that as a representative of Centaurus Financial and JP Turner & Company, she “recommended risky, complex, long-term and illiquid investments” in corporate bond products. The pending complaint alleges damages of $200,000.

In a statement included with the pending complaint’s disclosure, Mr. Mantei “vehemently” denied the allegations, describing them as meritless. “The investments about which the customers complained were suitable and were recommended based on the customer’s objectives, goals and financial circumstances and were offered only after his review of all material documentation related to the investment,” she wrote.

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2020, alleged that as a Centaurus and JP Turner & Company representative, she made misrepresentations regarding investments in corporate bonds and other products. The complaint reached a settlement of $5,000.

A third investor complaint, filed in 2020, alleged that she breached her fiduciary duty and over-concentrated the investor’s portfolio in unsuitable investments. In 2021 the complaint reached a settlement of $5,000.

A fourth investor complaint, filed in 2019, alleged  misrepresentations, unsuitable investment recommendations, and breached of fiduciary duty. In 2020 the complaint reached a settlement of $55,000.

A fifth investor complaint, filed in 2019, alleged over-concentration in unsuitable and illiquid products. In 2020 the complaint reached a settlement of $22,500.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Lisa Mantei holds 28 years of securities industry experience. Based in Lexington, South Carolina, she has been a broker and an investment advisor with Centaurus Financial since 2015 and 2023, respectively, doing business as Cola Wealth Advisors. Her past registrations include JP Turner & Company, Gunnallen Financial, First Allied Securities, DE Frey & Company, and AG Edwards & Sons. Her credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66.
