Manuel Lozano: Stifel Advisor Lands New Investor Complaint

Pasadena, California financial advisor Manuel Lozano (CRD# 1004483) recently received an investor complaint alleging that his conduct resulted in damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Stifel Nicolaus.

Mr. Lozano’s BrokerCheck report discloses ten investor complaints. The most recent, filed in August 2026, alleges that as a Stifel Nicolaus representative, he failed to follow instructions in connection with the purchase of securities. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

A second investor complaint, filed in March 2018, alleged that as a representative of Stifel Nicolaus, he misrepresented material facts, recommended unsuitable investments, and committed elder financial abuse. The complaint reached a settlement of $30,000.

A third investor complaint, filed in 2017, similarly alleged that as a representative of Stifel Nicolaus, he recommended unsuitable investments, breached his fiduciary duty, and violated FINRA rules. In 2019 the complaint reached a settlement of $27,000.

A fourth investor complaint, filed in 2010, alleged that as a Stifel Nicolaus representative, he made misrepresentations and omissions of material facts, breached contract, recommended unsuitable investments, acted negligently, and breached his fiduciary duty. In 2011 the complaint reached a settlement of $50,000.

Various industry rules protect investors against misleading conduct. FINRA Rule 2020 provides that no broker shall “effect any transaction in, or induce the purchase or sale of, any security by means of any manipulative, deceptive or other fraudulent device or contrivance., and brokers may not make misrepresentations of material fact about the investments they recommend. Under FINRA Rule 2111, a broker must “have a reasonable basis to believe that a recommended transaction or investment strategy” is appropriate for the customer’s objectives, a basis reached through reasonable diligence into the customer’s investment profile. Finally, FINRA Rule 2010 requires representatives to “observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade.” Brokers who violate these rules may be held liable in the event of losses.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Manuel Lozano holds 44 years of securities industry experience. Based in Pasadena, California, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Stifel Nicolaus since 2007. His past registrations include AG Edwards & Sons and Dean Witter Reynolds.
