Mark Joneson: Oil & Gas Complaint Against Rapid City Advisor

Cetera Advisor Networks financial advisor Mark Joneson (CRD# 4119915) recently received an investor complaint alleging his conduct resulted in losses. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is a broker and an investment advisor based in Rapid City, South Dakota, having previously been registered with Berthel Fisher & Company. 

Mr. Joneson’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in May 2022, it alleges that as a representative of Berthel Fisher & Company, he misrepresented and sold unsuitable oil and gas and real estate investments. According to the complaint, the the investments were over-concentrated, and the firm failed in its duties to conduct due diligence on the investments and to supervise Mr. Joneson. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages estimated to exceed $5,000.

His past registrations include Berthel Fisher & Company (2013-2019), BFC Planning (2013-2019), Cetera Advisors (2001-2013), and Multi-Financial Securities Corporation (2000-2013), all in Rapid City, South Dakota. His credentials include the passage of six securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Principal Examination, or Series 24; the Municipal Fund Securities Principal Examination, or Series 51; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66.
