Ex-WeathForge Rep Matt McFarland: NP Skyloft Complaint

Former WealthForge Securities representative Matt McFarland’s BrokerCheck report (CRD# 6675310) lists pending investor complaints alleging six-figure damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that the Torrance, California broker is now registered with FNEX Capital.

The most recent investor complaint disclosed on Mr. McFarland’s BrokerCheck report was filed in March 2022. It alleges that WealthForge Securities failed to conduct adequate due diligence on a private placement offering and that “the salesperson misrepresented to [the claimants] that the investment was a safe investment.” The pending complaint alleges damages of $200,000. In a comment on the disclosure, Mr. McFarland states that the claim is “inaccurate,” and that the complaint was filed against WealthForge Securities but “NOT the representative.”

The second investor complaint disclosed on his BrokerCheck report was filed in April 2021. It alleges that WealthForge Securities failed to conduct adequate due diligence on an NP Skyloft, DST private placement. The pending complaint alleges damages of $283,000. In a comment on this disclosure, Mr. McFarland similarly states, “The allegations are inaccurate and misleading as there was no formal complaint against the representative.” The comment adds further, “The investor is a satisfied client of the representative as evidenced by the investor completing numerous additional investments with the representative after the time of this arbitration and dispute between the investor and WealthForge Securities.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Matt McFarland holds four years of securities industry experience. Based in Torrance, California, he has been registered with FNEX Capital since January 2022. His past registrations include Growth Capital Services (Claymont, Delaware; 2020-2022) and WealthForge Securities (Torrance, California; 2017-2020). His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; and the Direct Participation Programs Representative Examination, or Series 22. He holds 50 state licenses. (Information current as of May 22, 2022.)
