Boca Raton Advisor Michael Greenfield: Oil & Gas Complaints

Recent investor complaints against Newbridge Securities financial advisor Michael Greenfield (CRD# 5406611) allege negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, and other forms of misconduct. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is currently a broker based in Boca Raton, Florida.

Mr. Greenfield’s BrokerCheck report discloses multiple investor complaints. The most recent, filed in September 2022, alleges breach of contract, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and vicarious liability connected with alternative investments while he was a representative of Newbridge Securities Corporation. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2020, alleged negligence, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and violation of FINRA rules relating to an oil and gas master limited partnership while he was at Foreside Fund Services and Oppenheimer & Company. The complaint reached a settlement of $37,500.

A third investor complaint, also filed in 2020, similarly alleged negligence and breach of contract relating to investments in MLPs and Puerto Rico municipal bonds. The complaint reached a settlement of $18,750.

A fourth investor complaint, filed in 2019, also alleged negligence, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty relating to MLP purchases. In 2020 the complaint reached a settlement of $75,000.

In identical statements on the above-described settled complaints, Mr. Greenfield wrote that the customers who filed them “make no allegation of wrongdoing on [his] part.” He added that he and the customers “received the same misinformation at issue in this matter,” that the customers “do not hold him] personally responsible for their alleged losses,” and that he intends to seek expungement of the matters from his BrokerCheck report.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Michael Greenfield holds 13 years of securities industry experience. Based in Boca Raton, Florida, he has been a broker with Newbridge Securities Corporation since 2017. His past registrations include Oppenheimer & Company, Morgan Stanley, and the GMS Group, all in Boca Raton. His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63. He is licensed in California, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, and Texas. (Information current as of October 12, 2022.)
