Michael Taylor: Why Did Seren Advisor Resign from Ameriprise?

Fort Lauderdale, Florida financial advisor Michael Taylor (CRD# 4900554) recently resigned from his former member firm in connection with alleged rule violations. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and Securities and Exchange Commission records show that the former Ameriprise Financial Services broker is currently registered as an investment advisor with Seren Wealth Advisors.

Mr. Taylor’s BrokerCheck report discloses his resignation from Ameriprise Financial Services. Filed in June 2026, the disclosure states that he voluntarily resigned from the firm “while the firm was reviewing a beneficiary relationship with a client and an undisclosed fiduciary relationship.”

A second disclosure on Mr. Taylor’s BrokerCheck report concerns an investor complaint against him. Filed in 2019, the complaint alleged that as a representative of Ameriprise Financial Services, he “made a bad recommendation” in connection with variable annuity policy exchanges. The complaint alleged $23,134.31 in damages and was denied by the firm.

FINRA Rule 2010 requires FINRA-associated persons to “observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade.” Many types of unethical conduct, including the failure to follow firm rules, may be found to constitute violations of FINRA Rule 2010, provided the alleged activities occur “in the conduct of [the member’s] business.” Brokers who fail to uphold FINRA Rule 2010 may be held liable in the event of losses.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Michael Taylor holds 21 years of securities industry experience. Based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he has been registered as an investment advisor with Seren Wealth Advisors since September 2026. His past registrations include Ameriprise Financial Services, MML Investors Services, and IDS Life Insurance. His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66. (Information current as of September 7, 2026.)
