York, Pennsylvania financial advisor Mike McFeeley (CRD# 5505995) allegedly recommended unsuitable oil and gas investments, according to multiple investor complaints. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered with Lincoln Financial Advisors Corporation. He is also the owner of Academy Financial.
Mr. McFeeley’s BrokerCheck report discloses seven pending investor complaints. Filed in February and March 2024, all seven allege that as a representative of Lincoln Financial Advisors, he recommended an unsuitable oil and gas investment. The pending complaints allege damages of $85,000, $75,000, $100,000, $75,000, $100,000, $375,000, and $50,000.
In identical statements included with each pending complaint’s disclosure, Mr. McFeeley defends himself against the allegations. “This was not an individual customer complaint against me,” he writes. “I was not a named party in any litigation, just an involved party as an advisor, in a class action type lawsuit for lack of due diligence and suitability. The client is still a client.”
His BrokerCheck report also discloses three investor complaints that reached settlements. Filed in 2022 and 2023, each alleged that he recommended an unsuitable oil and gas product. The complaints reached settlement amounts of $82,992, $53,396.95, and $82,990.45, with the disclosures including statements in which Mr. McFeeley wrote that he was not a named party in any litigation, but rather named as an involved party “in a class action type lawsuit.”
Academy Financial’s website includes a profile of Mr. McFeeley that describes his background and approach. “Mike leverages his skills as a former Maritime officer and graduate from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point to implement creative and complex design ideas with simplicity working with your current advisors,” it states. “We treat our clients’ wealth and planning needs as if it was our own and act as a catalyst to accomplish their goals from a cross disciplinary perspective.”
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Michael McFeeley holds 16 years of securities experience. Based in York, Pennsylvania, he has been registered as a broker with Lincoln Financial Advisors as a broker and an investment advisor since 2008.
