Records filed with a US bankruptcy court disclose that at least one current or former client of NextWave Financial advisor Nate Goldenberg (CRD# 2154719) is listed as creditor for an investment in GWG Holdings preferred stock. The records describe an investment of $205,000. Securities and Exchange Commission records show that Mr. Goldenberg is currently based in Lithia, Florida.
Investors should be aware that securities regulators at the SEC have reportedly investigated the sales of L bonds issued by GWG Holdings, a Dallas-based firm that entered bankruptcy in 2022. The SEC has also filed charges against the broker-dealer firm Western International Securities and certain of its representatives, alleging that their recommendations of GWG L bonds violated securities industry rules. If your financial advisor unsuitably recommended investments in GWG Holdings, they may be liable for damages. More information about these products is available here.
Mr. Goldenberg’s Financial Industry Regulatory Authority-maintained BrokerCheck report discloses a recent regulatory enforcement action against him. In 2021, FINRA sanctioned him in connection with “improperly retain[ed] documents containing nonpublic personal information of firm customers upon his termination” from his former member firm. The documents in question allegedly contained “names, birthdates, social security numbers, and account numbers of customers.” Not only was the retention itself in violation of firm policies, according to FINRA’s findings, it additionally caused his firm to violate FINRA Rule 2010. In connection with these findings, he was issued a five-month suspension and a fine of $5,000.
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Nate Goldenberg holds 18 years of securities industry experience. Based in Lithia, Florida, he has been an investment advisor with NextWave Advisors since 2020. His registration history includes International Assets Advisory (Tampa, Florida; 2013-2020), JP Morgan Securities (Tampa, Florida; 2012-2013), Chase Investment Services (Tampa, Florida; 2006-2012), and Gunnallen Financial (Tampa, Florida; 2005-2006). His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66. He is licensed as an investment advisor in Florida. (Information current as of June 2, 2023.)
