Nick Centis: $10mm Complaint Against JP Morgan Advisor

San Francisco, California financial advisor Nick Centis (CRD# 6187468) recently received an investor complaint alleging that his advice resulted in eight-figure damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with JP Morgan Securities.

Mr. Centis’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in February 2026, it alleges that as a representative of JP Morgan, he recommended options unsuitable investments in the customer’s managed account. The pending complaint alleges damages of $10,953,568.

One of many industry guidelines protecting investors is FINRA’s suitability standard. As laid out in FINRA Rule 2111, the standard provides that brokers and broker-dealer firms must “have a reasonable basis to believe that a recommended transaction or investment strategy involving a security or securities is suitable for the customer, based on the information obtained through the reasonable diligence of the member or associated person to ascertain the customer’s investment profile.” Brokers who lack this reasonable basis, or who otherwise recommendation investments and/or strategies that aren’t suitable for their customers, are considered to have violated Rule 2111 and may be liable for damages in the event of losses.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Nick Centis holds 11 years of securities industry experience. Based in San Francisco, California, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with JP Morgan Securities since 2020. His past registrations include Stifel Nicolaus & Company and Barclays Capital. His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66; and the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7. He holds 55 state licenses. (Information current as of April 16, 2026.)
