Robert Wilson: Why Was Principal Advisor Fired by Wells Fargo?

Eagle, Idaho financial advisor Robert Wilson (CRD# 6394736) was recently fired by his prior member firm in connection with alleged rule violations. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that the former Wells Fargo representative is currently registered as a broker with Principal Securities.

Mr. Wilson’s BrokerCheck report discloses his termination from Wells Fargo. Filed in December 2025, the disclosure states that the firm fired him “after a Firm review of concerns involving changing a client’s email address without authorization.” It provides no addition context surrounding the underlying allegations.

Investors should be aware that FINRA Rule 2010 requires that persons associated with FINRA “observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade.” Many forms of unethical conduct, such as the failure to follow firm policies or the unauthorized alteration of customer information, constitute violations of FINRA Rule 2010, provided the activities occur “in the conduct of [the member’s] business.” Unauthorized changes to customer information may also violate FINRA Rule 4511, which requires firms to “make and preserve books and records as required under the FINRA rules, the Exchange Act and the applicable Exchange Act rules.” Brokers who cause their firms to maintain inaccurate books and records may be subject to disciplinary action by their firm and/or by regulatory authorities.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Robert Wilson holds nine years of securities industry experience. Based in Eagle, Idaho, he has been registered as a broker with Principal Securities since March 2026. His past registrations include Wells Fargo Advisors, Wells Fargo Clearing Services, Fidelity Brokerage Services, Fidelity Personal and Workplace Advisors, and Strategic Advisors. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7.
