Ronald Burkard: Centaurus Advisor’s Clients Invested $500K+ in GWG

At least four current or former customers of Centaurus Financial advisor Ronald Burkard (CRD# 1017607) are listed as creditors for investment in L Bonds and/or preferred stock issued by GWG Holdings, according to records filed with a US bankruptcy court. The records describe investments totaling more than $500,000. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that Mr. Burkard is currently based in Santa Ana, California.

Mr. Burkard’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in 2010, it alleged that as a representative of Centaurus Financial, he executed a variable annuity liquidation that caused the loss of a death benefit, contrary to the customer’s best interests. In 2012 the complaint reached a settlement of $12,500.

His past registrations include AXA Advisors (Irvine, California; 2001-2005), WM Financial Services (Irvine, California; 2000-2001), Cal Fed Investments (Sacramento, California; 1998-2000), Dean Witter Reynolds (Purchase, New York; 1997), and Olde Discount Corporation (Detroit, Michigan; 1996-1997). His credentials include the passage of six securities industry qualifying exams: the Municipal Securities Representative Examination, or Series 52; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Futures Managed Funds Examination, or Series 31; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65. He is licensed in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin. (Information current as of June 4, 2023.)
