Investor Complaint Against Tom Prichard, Edward Jones Advisor

Liberty, Missouri financial advisor Tom Prichard (CRD# 6488840) allegedly failed to follow instructions, according to an investor complaint. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is a broker and an investment advisor with Edward Jones. 

Complaint Alleges Six-Figure Damages

Mr. Prichard’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in October 2022, it alleges that as a representative of Edward Jones, he failed to follow instructions to liquidate the customer’s account if it declined below $1 million. The pending complaint alleges damages of $250,475.

FINRA Rules Require High Standards of Commercial Honor

Investors should be aware of FINRA Rule 2010, which states that registered representatives of FINRA member firms are required to “observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade.” Various forms of unethical conduct, such as the failure to follow a customer’s instructions, may be considered violations of this rule, so long as the activities in question take place “in the conduct of [the member’s] business.” Brokers who fail to uphold FINRA Rule 2010 may be liable in the event of losses in the customer’s account. 

Edward Jones Advisor Offers Various Services

Tom Prichard’s profile on Edward Jones’s website describes him as an advisor whose “primary goal is to help individual investors develop an investment strategy” with their own personal goals in mind, including college, retirement, and tax planning. “At Edward Jones,” it states further, “every strategy we offer and every solution we recommend is based on what’s most important to you. Once we understand your priorities, tolerance for risk and investing time frame, we can help you identify specific financial goals and develop strategies to help you work toward achieving them.”

FINRA: Prichard Based in Liberty, Missouri

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Tom Prichard has spent seven years working as a broker. He registered with Edward Jones in Liberty, Missouri in 2015, and has remained there since. Having passed three securities industry qualifying exams, he currently holds 27 state licenses.
