Tracey Smith: Ameriprise Advisor Faces RiverSource Annuity Complaint

Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania financial advisor Tracey Smith (CRD# 2668443) allegedly misrepresented a variable annuity investment, according to a recent investor complaint. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that she is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services.

Ms. Smith’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in July 2024, it alleges that as a representative of Ameriprise Financial Services, she misrepresented the death benefit feature of a RiverSource RAVA 5 Advantage variable annuity in March 2021. The pending complaint alleges damages of $488,427.89.

Ameriprise Financial Services’ website includes a page that describes Ms. Smith’s services, including financial advice and investment solutions. “I work with you to determine the service and solutions that fit your financial needs and priorities,” it explains. “Through financial advice, investments and solution recommendations, as well as progress meetings and smart technology, I can help you achieve your financial goals and adjust to whatever life brings. According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Tracey Smith holds 28 years of securities industry experience. Based in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, she has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services since 1995 and 2003, respectively. She was previously registered with IDS Life Insurance Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota from 1995 until 2006. Her credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66. She is licensed in Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia.
