Jeffrey Cohen: $2MM Complaint Against Manchester-Based Moloney Rep

Moloney Securities stockbroker Jeffrey Cohen (CRD# 2528929) has received investor complaints alleging he sold unsuitable alternative investments. According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, an entity overseeing broker-dealer firms, Mr. Cohen is associated with Moloney’s branch office in Manchester, Missouri. 

FINRA records list six complaints against Jeffrey Cohen and his member firms that concluded with settlements to the customer, per his BrokerCheck report. A complaint filed in 2020, for instance, alleged that he recommended unsuitable investments while at Moloney Securities; it reached a settlement of $125,000. Another 2020 complaint alleged that as a Moloney representative, he made unsuitable recommendations; the complaint settled for $350,000. Three other suitability complaints by Moloney Securities customers, filed in 2019 and 2020, settled for a total of $895,000. Finally, a 2001 complaint by an Intersecurities customer alleged that he intentionally and negligently misrepresented material facts and breached his fiduciary duty; this complaint reached a settlement of $320,000.

Records also show two pending investor complaints against Jeffrey Cohen. A complaint filed in July 2021 alleges that while at Moloney Securities, he recommended unsuitable alternative investments; the pending complaint alleges damages of $150,000. A complaint filed in August 2019 also alleges that while at Moloney Securities, he recommended unsuitable alternative products. This pending complaint alleges damages of $2 million.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Jeffrey Cohen holds 15 years of securities industry experience. He has been based in Moloney Securities’ branch office in Manchester, Missouri since 2015. His registration history includes Moloney Securities in Henderson, Nevada, Western International Securities in Westlake Village, California, Financial West Group in Reno, Nevada, NFP Securities in Austin, Texas, and Intersecurities in Saint Petersburg, Florida. He has passed the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, the Direct Participation Programs Representative Examination, the Corporate Securities Limited Representative Examination, the General Securities Representative Examination, and the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination.
