Carl DeMarco: Hornor Townsend Advisor Faces $144K Complaint

A recent investor complaint against Tinton Falls, New Jersey financial advisor Carl DeMarco (CRD# 2671924) alleges that his conduct resulted in six-figure damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Hornor Townsend & Kent, doing business as Primary Financial.

Mr. DeMarco’s BrokerCheck report discloses two investor complaints. The most recent, filed in May 2025, alleges that as a representative of Hornor Townsend & Kent, he “confirmed the sale of certain positions prior to the actual sale of those positions.” The pending complaint alleges damages of $144,167.45.

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2012, alleged that as a representative of Hornor Townsend & Kent, he misrepresented a variable annuity investment. The complaint reached a settlement of $27,546.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Carl DeMarco holds 29 years of securities industry experience. Based in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Hornor Townsend & Kent since 2002, doing business as Primary Financial. His past registrations include 1717 Capital Management Company, EQ Financial Consultants, and the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; and the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6.
