James Lamont: Ex-Whitehall Broker Named in Inspired Healthcare Filing

Former San Francisco financial advisor James Lamont (CRD# 2846228) has received multiple investor complaints alleging that his conduct resulted in damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he was most recently registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Whitehall-Parker Securities.

In addition, Mr. Lamont is listed on a Form D filing for Inspired Healthcare Capital, a senior living development company that recently filed for bankruptcy. According to InvestmentNews, Inspired Healthcare sold private placement offerings and alternative investments “through a network of independent contractor broker-dealers,” reportedly generating “more than $100 million in fees and commissions” for investments that ultimately stopped issuing distributions to investors.

Mr. Lamont’s BrokerCheck report discloses more than a dozen investor complaints. The most recent, filed in 2021, alleges that as a representative of Whitehall-Parker Securities, he recommended an unsuitable real estate security. The pending complaint alleges damages between $100,000 and $250,000.

A second investor complaint, filed in 2020, alleged that as a representative of Independent Financial Group and Whitehall-Parker Securities, he recommended “large concentrations of illiquid, speculative, low-quality, high commission alternative investments” that resulted in losses. The complaint reached a settlement of $390,000.

A third investor complaint, filed in 2020, alleged that as a Whitehall-Parker Securities representative, he sold an investment away from his member firm. The complaint reached a settlement of $40,000.

A fourth investor complaint, filed in 2019, alleged that as an Independent Financial Group representative, he recommended unsuitable investments. In 2021 the complaint reached a settlement of $17,500.

A fifth investor complaint, filed in 2014, alleged that as a Parkland Securities representative, he made misrepresentations regarding a tenant-in-common investment. In 2015 the complaint reached a settlement of $87,500.

A sixth investor complaint, filed in 2013, alleged that as a representative of Sammons Securities and Independent Financial Group, misrepresented material facts regarding investments in oil and gas and real estate. In 2014 the complaint reached a settlement of $27,500.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, James Lamont holds 22 years of securities industry experience. Most recently based in San Francisco, California, he was last registered as a broker with Whitehall-Parker Securities from 2015 until 2019. His registration history includes Independent Financial Group, Sammons Securities, Walnut Street Securities, and Fortis Investors. His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63. He is not currently registered as a broker or an investment advisor. (Information current as of March 17, 2026.)
