Robert Boggess: Ex-Great Point Advisor Faces $50K-$100K DST Complaint

Chicago, Illinois financial advisor Robert Boggess (CRD# 5007422) allegedly recommended an unsuitable in transaction, according to a recent investor complaint. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker with Quincy Wells Capital and does business as Irexa, having previously been registered with Great Point Capital.

Mr. Boggess’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in September 2025, it alleges that as a representative of Great Point Capital, he made an unsuitable investment recommendation, breached his fiduciary duty, failed to conduct adequate due diligence, and breached contract in connection with the purchase of a Delaware Statutory Trust as part of a 1031 exchange. The pending complaint alleges damages between $50,000 and $100,000.

An unsuitable investment or investment strategy, according to FINRA Rule 2111, is one which a broker lacks a reasonable basis to believe is appropriate for the client’s investment profile. An investor’s profile is based on information including their “age, other investments, financial situation and needs, tax status, investment objectives, investment experience, investment time horizon, liquidity needs, risk tolerance,” and more. Brokers like Mr. Boggess are required to perform reasonable diligence to determine a customer’s profile; then, they must use this information to make a determination as to whether an investment or strategy is not only suitable for some customers, but the specific customer they’re dealing with. Brokers who fail to recommend suitable investments may be held liable in the event of losses.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Robert Boggess holds 20 years of securities industry experience. Based in Chicago, Illinois, he has been registered as a broker with Quincy Wells Capital since May 2026, doing business as Irexa. His past registrations include Great Point Capital, Emerson Equity, Franklin Alpha, Sandlapper Wealth Management, Sandlapper Securities, Concorde Investment Services, Allied Beacon Wealth Management, Allied Beacon Partners, Omni Brokerage, and Welton Street Investments. His credentials include the passage of six securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the Corporate Securities Limited Representative Examination, or Series 62;he Direct Participation Programs Representative Examination, or Series 22; and the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7.
