Becky Eriksson-Ylagan: Cabin Advisor Faces $250K Complaint

A recent investor complaint against Laguna Niguel, California financial advisor Becky Eriksson-Ylagan (CRD# 7475882) alleges that her advice resulted in six-figure damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that she is registered as a broker with Cabin Securities, doing business as DSTs 1031 Investments.

Ms. Eriksson-Ylagan’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in April 2026, it alleges that as a representative of Cabin Securities, she recommended an unsuitable Regulation D private placement, misrepresented and omitted material facts, failed in her supervisory responsibilities, and failed to conduct adequate due diligence. The pending complaint alleges damages of $250,000.

In a statement included with the disclosure, Ms. Eriksson-Ylagan defends herself against the allegations. “The firm conducted robust due diligence,” she wrote. “The investor is a sophisticated real estate investor whom the representative discussed the risks associated with the investment. The representative did not play a role in the management of the investment. The investment was negatively affected by issues arising from the investment sponsor and the manager. The investor still owns the interests in the trust, which owns the property, and has not realized any loss of principal.”

For reference, Regulation D private placements are exempt from registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission, which means that they can come with significant risks. Generally speaking, the companies that offer them are not required to provide investors with the same level of transparency as publicly registered securities, making it difficult for investors to keep track of their investments’ performance. They are often also illiquid investments, meaning that investors who wish to sell them may face challenges finding a buyer, let alone a buyer willing to pay a fair price. Brokers who recommend unsuitable investments in Regulation D private placements may be liable for damages.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Becky Eriksson-Ylagan holds four years of securities industry experience. Based in Laguna Niguel, California, she has been registered as a broker with Cabin Securities since 2022, doing business as DSTs 1031 Investments. Her credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Direct Participation Programs Representative Examination, or Series 22TO; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63. She holds 51 state licenses. (Information current as of May 23, 2026.)
