A recent investor complaint against Covington, Louisiana financial advisor Gabriel Martin (CRD# 7815903) alleges that his advice resulted in damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and Securities and Exchange Commission records show that the former LPL Financial broker is currently registered as an investment advisor with Pelican Advisory.
Mr. Martin’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in March 2026, it alleges that as a representative of LPL Financial, he failed to adequately disclose risks in connection with an investment recommendation. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.
Investors should be aware that FINRA rules forbid brokers from misrepresenting or omitting material facts relating to the investments and strategies they recommend to their clients. FINRA Rule 2020 states specifically that no broker shall “effect any transaction in, or induce the purchase or sale of, any security by means of any manipulative, deceptive or other fraudulent device or contrivance.” Omissions may also violate FINRA Rule 2010, which stipulates that brokers like Mr. Farmer must “observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade” in the conduct of their business. Brokers who misrepresent the products they recommend risk leading their customers to make unsuitable investments, in violation of FINRA Rule 2111. Brokers who misrepresent and/or recommend unsuitable investments may be liable for damages in the event of losses.
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Gabriel Martin holds two years of securities industry experience. Based in Covington, Louisiana, he has been registered as an investment advisor with Pelican Advisory since October 2024. He was previously registered with LPL Financial from 2023 until 2024. His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7TO; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66.
