David Soiferman: Why Was Advisor Fired by Ameriprise?

Orlando, Florida financial advisor David Soiferman (CRD# 1990243) was recently fired by a former member firm in connection with alleged rule allegations. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that the former Ameriprise Financial Services representative is currently registered as a broker with Cambridge Investment Research.

Mr. Soiferman’s BrokerCheck report discloses his termination from Ameriprise Financial Services. Filed in June 2026, it states that the firm fired him in connection with “violations of Firm policies related to trading strategies.”

A second disclosure on his BrokerCheck report concerns an investor complaint. Filed in June 2023, it alleged that as a representative of Ameriprise Financial Services, he made unauthorized mutual fund trades in the customer’s account. The complaint alleged damages of $37,000 and was denied by the firm.

A third investor complaint, also filed in 2023, alleged that as an Ameriprise representative, he “solicited the sale of shares of an individual stock which had been previously and mutual agreed upon not to sell, resulting in losses.” The complaint alleged damages of $33,449.43 and was denied by the firm.

Various FINRA rules prohibit brokers like Mr. Soiferman from trading in customer accounts without proper authorization. FINRA Rule 3260, for example, describes specific conditions under which brokers can make discretionary trades; it also forbids discretionary trading without a customer’s prior written authorization and a firm’s written approval. FINRA Rule 2010, meanwhile, stipulates that FINRA-associated persons must “observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade,” which generally means that they may not conduct trades without proper authorization. Brokers who violate these rules may be held liable for damages.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, David Soiferman holds 36 years of securities industry experience. Based in Orlando, Florida, he has been registered as a broker with Cambridge Investment Research since 2026. His past registrations include Ameriprise Financial Services, J.P. Turner, GunnAllen Financial, Barron Chase Securities, HD Brous, J. Gregory, Chatfield Dean, Corporate Securities Group, and J.W. Gant & Associates. His credentials include the passage of nine securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Principal Examination, or Series 24; the General Securities Sales Supervisor – General Module Examination, or Series 10; the General Securities Sales Supervisor – Options Module Examination, or Series 9; the General Securities Sales Supervisor Examination, or Series 8; the Registered Options Principal Examination, or Series 4; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63.
